Drama

Drama spans the 11- 18 range with activities for all.  In the lower school girls learn theatre craft, theatre genres, script work and drama conventions.  Drama club gives pupils the opportunity to perform to the rest of school whilst the club’s main production takes place in the summer term.

Students benefit from the drama space which was opened in May 2006, by Matilda Leyser, professional aerialist.  The Hall is adaptable, allowing us to use different forms of staging and studio work, as well as exciting contemporary sound and lighting systems.

GCSE Drama introduces students to a deeper way of learning about drama.  Students explore a variety of scripts and stimuli by using both dramatic and theatrical techniques.  As part of the course, the girls produce their own script-based theatre piece.  Theatre trips and visiting practitioners enrich the girls’ capacity for practical work.

A Level Drama and Theatre Studies is a lively and creative course.  It involves learning from a rich array of Theatre history and genre.  As well as developing the students’ learning and experience of the art form in itself, skills of communication, analysis, presentation and collaboration are nurtured, thus preparing the student for life after the Sixth Form.
