Wychwood School | Textiles

Textiles

Textiles is a creative Art subject, not textiles technology, although many students apply their skills to fashion.  It is introduced as a discrete subject from GCSE onwards. There is a field trip for each project from which the students are required to produce a research sketchbook.  From this work there is an in - depth study of techniques, fabrics and equipment.

The culture and history of traditional techniques are considered and applied to the student's work as well as the many contemporary mediums that are evolving with techno fabrics.  Fabric and stitches are used and abused.

Work of today’s Textile artists is viewed and visited at exhibitions including:
The Knitting and Stitching show in London  and the Clothes Show Live in Birmingham.
